Latinex promotes stock market education in Panama with innovative competitions and programs.

Panama, October 17, 2024. The Latin American Stock Exchange ( Latinex ) held three important events today within the framework of Investor Week , reaffirming its commitment to financial education and the development of the capital market in the region.

The first event was the Ring the Bell for Financial Literacy. This ceremony, which takes place simultaneously in more than 100 capital markets that are members of the World Federation of Exchanges and IOSCO , highlights the importance of financial education and promotes financial responsibility on a global level.

The second event was the final of the Second Stock Sales Pitch Competition , in which university students presented investment proposals on Anameña companies listed on the local and international market. This competition encourages innovation, critical thinking and the practical application of financial concepts, promoting the development of young talent in the region.

Latinex strengthened this edition with the participation of mentors, who guided the finalists during the preparation of their proposals. Among the finalists, three teams presented analyses of Copa Airlines and two more focused on Grupo Prival . The international dimension of the event was evidenced by the presence of finalist teams from Costa Rica and the United States , underlining Latinex's aspiration to consolidate itself as an international hub for capital markets .

Winners of the Stock Sales Pitch Competition

  • First place : Cristian Vargas and Juan Pablo Vargas, from Marquette University (United States), with their proposal on Copa Airlines .
  • Second place : Nicolás Vivallo, from the University of Costa Rica , with his proposal on the Prival Group.
  • Third place : André Marciscano, from ADEN University , with his proposal also about the Prival Group .

The event also included the award ceremony for the First Simulated Trading Course/Competition , a pioneering initiative organized by Latinex, which allowed university students and young professionals to compete in an environment that simulates real stock market operations. The competition was divided into three categories:

  • Open : 79 participants of all ages and experience levels.
  • University : 28 participants, focused on university students from Panama and abroad.
  • Youth : 20 participants from schools, encouraging early interest in stock market investments.

Stock market education: a continuous commitment of Latinex

At Latinex, stock market education is a strategic pillar for the sustainable economic development of Panama. Through its Stock Market Education Program , the entity has impacted more than 1,000 people by 2024 through talks, seminars, university visits and similar activities. The event was attended by more than 200 people , including students from St. Mary and Montessori schools, who enjoyed an educational and enriching day.
